Raleigh Friends Meeting (625 Tower Street, Raleigh, NC) will have a guest speaker this upcoming Sunday, June 25, for our 2nd Hour Discussion starting at 11:30am for approximately one hour. We will welcome Jessica Turner, the Faith & Community Engagement Coordinator with ACLU.
Jessica will offer an overview of the work of the ACLU. The ACLU has six issue areas: Criminal Justice Reform, LGBTQ Equality, Reproductive Freedom, Voting Rights, Free Speech, and Racial Justice. She will discuss what the ACLU is doing in each of those areas then talk about how people of faith have a unique role in advocacy.
The work of ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is well known to many Friends. Jessica’s visit allows us to learn more and ask questions and perhaps find ways individuals can support ACLU.
